I would also check and make sure something in the centrifugal advance mechanism such as a spring or pin didn't break or fall off. If you work inside the distributor be very careful of the partially hidden fabric covered wire connecting the points to the outside terminal. Your dist may or may not have the wire but if the fabric insulation is rotten and falls off when it is moved the wire can short and you will have no spark.
