I got the solution to the NLA T-L ball stud seals. On 1956 at least, 4 each of HELP! 13652 "Dust Boot".
Here's what you have to do to make them work.
1) Cut them down to about 5/8IN high measured from the small end (I used a pair of dikes):
Cut reliefs 180-deg apart as shown. One side is narrower and deeper than the other side:
