Re: V-8 oil pumps

Which vender actually built the oil pumps? As some had no problems, and others had many, were different venders involved? Was told that the AMC designed oil pumps were better, but my 352 engine for the Hudson blew up at 75,000 miles. Engine always had valve train clatter. Engine oil was only half quart low and main bearings went. Engine has been rebuilt and running quietly for 5 years, but do not know what oil pump rebuilder installed.
