6-40 taps are listed in MSC catalog (google MSC) in both US and import (cheaper) quality. For that odd tap or die that I'm only going to use once or twice in a lifetime, I usually buy the cheaper ones. I'm sure MacMaster-Carr has them also. But if you can borrow one......
