Pretty simple to decode some of it, I'd say that when you ordered the catalog the person who entered the order has their initials attached to the code, IE, "SB" would be "Stuart Blond", Packard53's favorite parts man, and "DJK" would be "Dan Kanter". "PAC 5" is probably the code for V8 Packards, and the 6 digit alpha numeric code is probably just an internal designation that they use.


I'm not saying that this is correct, but it seems like the most logical explanation, and Kevin's contribution as to the code makes me think that this is correct.

EDIT....

I just ordered a 1948 catalog from them (which I need anyway) and when it comes in I'll report the "code" to see if my theory holds water. All these years as a parts guy looking at catalogs and seeing similar mailing codes makes me think that this is correct.
