Re: Old topics

AACA didn't spin old threads off to any archive.

Threads that got "out of hand" were banished to "The Basement" - that is, the former Misc. Chat Forum that was only accessible to signed-in members at first, but only those with permission later - invisible to the public and general membership. Yet, any thread that got out of hand down there was completely deleted. However, the Misc. Chat Forum and all threads therein were deleted by the site admins a couple of years back.

Then, there was also "The Great Purge of 2006" at the AACA Packard Forum, where one former member asked for his account info to be deleted and the admins deleted not only every one of his posts, but any post in any chain of posts that replied to one his posts. Curiously, nothing like that happened with some other members who were banned, and their posts remain. Many viewed that situation as a thinly-vieled attempt to sanitize the Packard Forum.

The remaining threads dating back to 2000 are still there, but the site's search function doesn't seem to pick older threads up. You would have to go through them manually to find what you are looking for.

I'm not sure what went on at the PackardClub, org's old forum as I only used it briefly back in 1999 and found it too restrictive. I left for "greener pastures" and never went back. That forum appears to have been lost, but the new forum format seems to be a bit more open and tolerant.

To the best of my knowledge the only posts that have been deleted at P'Info involved SPAM.
