Not too familiar with Dorf squard cars of this vintage but I'd say check the generator pulley. Many cop cars and even taxicabs came with smaller generator pulleys so that the charging system would have an output at prolonged idle speeds in order to keep up with the load of the 2 way radio and extra lights.
There may be also special serial or model numbers that denote cop car status.
