i am thinking positive too. there is a strap that is connected to the block that would be on the batteries side that is facing the front of the car. the wire going to the starter is on the pole of the battery that is towards the back of the car, and it is has a black coating.

the coil is facing rearwards and the wire comming out of it is comming out towards the fire wall and goes into the distributer.

would this be positive ground?
