It would be nice to have the correct jack for appearance but I would not use it to change a tire. You answered your question about damaging the bumper. Chrome will be scratched, lower bar is relatively thin and easily bent where the lip catches (just look at many unrestored cars) and they are really not the safest game in town.

Frank makes a good point about the height. Harbor Freight has a nice aluminum racing jack which will go approx 15 inches but still might be an issue on the rear wheels.
