Blind as a bat, I hit the wrong key and didn't proofread carefully -- it is step 5. but the ball studs are captured and would not have come out if you were even able to get the caps off. The bracket doesn't matter -- just less to be in the way. Aside from the bottom piece (15.916) made for the limit switches and a couple of pieces inside to work and index things to them, the rest is essentially identical to 55.

What they are having you do is loosen but not remove 7 bolts around the circumference (15.918 in drawing) The large ring in center (15.947) is just squeezed between the top and bottom plate. Once the bolts are loosened a small bit, the ring will start to slide or rotate around but still captured between the housings. That movement will let the bars pull the lever and inner gears along with the ring and release tension. Once the tension is off, then the rest can be removed.
