Here is one of several sites having alternators which look and mount like generators as Mal mentioned although I don't believe they have a specific Packard application. Probably some of the GM selections would work though. These were discussed some time ago and believe the feeling was they were more expensive and not as easily available if it had to be replaced on the road.powermastermotorsports.com/powergen.html
