Motor mounts were made from the 30's to the mid-60's without an interlock and there were no safety hazards. As I recall, the later designs of the throttle linkage created a safety hazard because when the mount separated it caused the car to accelerate. The design of the Packard throttle linkage did not cause this dangerous conditon. A safety interlocked motor mount is sort of like having a life raft on a bus.
