This is way OT and not germaine to Packard V8s, but facts is facts and terminology is required for understanding:

Ok. I looked it up. According to the 1989 FACTORY AUTHORIZED Chev service manual the 305 Vin "Y" has stepped cam journals. All others including 350 has only ONE diameter specified for cam journal size. There was a mid 70's 260 V8 that was used in pontiac too that had one size. I'll try to double check the 327 and 283 bibles.

Keith is referencing is the camshaft journal diameter, and/or the camshaft bearing ID, which is 1.8682" for all five journals. The cam bearing driver ID is a rubber ring which can expand to handle several IDs.

The block cam tunnel bore is what determines the bearing driver adapter OD necessary to clear the block.
Chevrolet V8s - 262, 265, 267, 302, 305, 307, 327,350, 400
Block cam bearing housing bore diameters:
#1 2.0190"
#2-5 2.009"
#3-4 1.990"

The block bores are what the bearings go into and they have three different diameters.
