I have one of those pumps. IIRC the gears in it are about 1/8" shorter than the Packard pump. The heavy bottom plate also acts as a bushing for a lower pump shaft support. IIRC the neck of the pump (from pump body to mounting flange) is shorter than the Packard application.

I also have what was alleged to be a 56J pump and it has the thin metal plate (no vacuum pump) like the one picured above in BH's post.

I can dig it out and look at it again and post pics if anyone wants to see them.
