electrical system 1955

I just read that the 1955 (5588) Patrician was set up as a positive ground - is that correct? The 1956 shows as a negative ground. I don't have much experience with this but I am at a point where I want to crank the engine over. Can someone help me so I don't fry the wiring? Is the 1955 a positive ground? Thanks.
