Often, if a pan has been on and off frequently and probably overtightened a few times, the pan lip begins to deform as the bolt openings deform and raise above the surface. When this happens it's pretty much impossible to stop pan leaks unless you remove the pan and, using a flat surface and a hammer, reshape the pan lip back to a flat surface. Ditto for Ultramatic pans.
