First Production 1955 Patrician

Here are the first photos from my visit to 5582-1001 yesterday. I'll send more as I get them organized into categories (Exterior, Interior, Engine Compartment, Trunk, Engine, Transmission, and Miscellaneous).

The first group of photos is the numbers of the Patrician. First of all the engine and vehicle numbers match. There is no body dash number/theft proof number, only the triangles are embossed on the cowl wall. I was unable to locate any Utica stamped number on the transmission case, only cast numbers on the back top. The license plate is a 1968 Texas, which probably means it was last driven that year.

Engine Bell Housing: F304 (June 30, 1954?)

Cylinder Head: H134 (August 13, 1954?). I was only able to look at one of the heads. The other one was under engine parts in the trunk.

Engine Number: 5582-01001 has a leading zero; however, the Utica number does not have this. Were they expecting to make tens of thousands of these engines?

All the numbers point to early production. Do not know if the engine and transmission were the original ones, but casting numbers support that it probably was. Transmission tailshaft is cast iron.

I send more photos and additional comments about the Packard and my visit.

In the meantime, enjoy.
