Yes, the later seniors has chrome housings. When did it change, I don't know that we will ever know.

Well, the rosterkeeper for the V8s should have been tracking this and other anomalies - like the painted ash tray bezels. They're every bit as important as the finish of the hood emblem or whether a car had one or two door jamb switches, IMHO. Of course, it's never to late to go back and try to get that info.

Look at the horn button on #1, and compare it to the CL one. The CL one has a lighter background, silver?, and #1 has a dark background.

OK, I noticed the background was darker on #1, but chalked that up to the general level of deterioration of the car. Are there other such examples of horn button emblems, but in better condition, with same darker background?

I looked at this...And it looks bluer than what's in the car, but that could due to the sun. However the seats are white, and the sample has blue leather.

I have the those PDFs on my HDD, plus an original 55 (as well as 56) dealer album and original 55-56 parts book (which I scanned for this site) in my personal archive. It's hard to say whether the seats are trimmed in white or just badly faded. Yet, notice that the housing for the aftermarket, underdash A/C evaporator unit is light blue. The build strip might tell us whether this is a SPECial trim set.

The early cars I have seen, the blower behind the grill had a scoop. The later ones did not have it.

I can't recall that detail from my long-gone 55, and my 56s are all stored offsite, but inaccessible thanks to another lovely winter.
