My '56 400 has the push button set up with the 4L60E transmission, and all of the positions work as they would have with the Ultramatic. It seems that the rod which goes from the selector motor has been altered to correspond with the more modern transmission.

Don't know if the 4L60e conversion like KevinAZ's with the new bellhousing is still available or if the 700r is the same or only GM option now but you are the first I remember hearing of that managed to keep the PBs. There were no rods in the original PB installation so curious on how they mounted the motor assy.

The PB setup and wanting to keep it has been one of the sticking points for any conversion on 56 cars because of the way motor was mounted directly to Ultras. The contact segment and finger block with the electrical spacing and layout only for the Ultra shift pattern has been the bigger problem. At the least it sounds as if they have overcome the finger issue but also curious how they did the whole conversion.

Any chance of some photos or more information on how it was done or if there is a kit available. Am sure any info you could provide would be well received from those who would like options to keep their PB setups.
