Riki, the pin is a good idea and something to consider. The original thought was at least 3 or 4 setscrews of the self locking type around the circumference of the adapter that would fit between the pinion teeth. The way it goes together there is no chance of it slipping away from the motor -- just slipping on the pinion.

Was thinking if there was any interest in the idea the pinion, plate and relays could be made as a kit. It could be done something along the lines Craig and Jack did with the Olds oil pump. Buy just the kit and separately buy a specific pump -- or motor in this case -- or buy a complete ready to bolt in assy. The pin might be an issue for some to drill if they opt for just a kit.

The whole idea depends on if there is an interest or even a need. It would really depend on the supply of original motors and if the modern setup could be done for less than the $2-300 exchange price original used motors seem to be going for. Even if the price is comparable some will never install a non stock part but since it is hidden others might if it is a working substitute and the price could be a bit more friendly. Am thinking a Dorman motor would be about $40-50 on Amazon -- a bit more at NAPA --, a pair of relays and sockets seem to be around $10 on ebay plus another bit for terminals and hardware but no idea on the adapter and plate.

What it boils down to is if there is feedback from any who think there is a need. If so then it will take more development and testing. I can continue to refine the design a bit but have no way to test short of tearing my car apart. Really don't want to do that so If you or anyone else wants to take on the project I will help any way I can.
