ULTRAMATIC QUADRANT

Sorry for all the technical questions here, but still trying to have the 1956 run correctly.
The ultramatic quadrant which is on the top of the steering column, the pointer is out of alignment. It is the twin ultramatic with a dot and a slash. Cannot figure out which gear it is in as the pointer reading is to the right of each mark. Is there any way to adjust this? There is a screw holding it on the top cover, of the quadrant on the narrow part facing the dash. Do not know if Packard factory and AMC are different here. But have found out from working on this car that both companies had things the same way, and used the same parts.
