There are three removable clips held by a screw, accessible from the trunk. There are three other clips (held by screws) that you will have to remove the rear armrest on that side to gain access. After you have removed those screws the trim piece is snapped onto the remainder of the clips. I used a wooden paint stirrer to gently pry the trim piece off those remaining clips which are left attached to the quarter panel..

I should have said studs held by a nut - nuts removable from inside the car.
