Thanks all for feedback and thank you Howard for the pictures. I see you posted those in a previous post for someone else with a similar question, I'll try harder in my searches..

You have 2 of those brackets while I can only find 1. Perhaps I lost one along the way. If I move the one I have to the front motor mount that should help raise the tubes and help the situation. The back bracket looks like it bolts on with a bolt on the flywheel cover, That plus the breather tube would force the tubes up and in. The tubes are the ones I took out, but maybe they lost their shape in my cleaning and painting efforts. I'll keep looking for another such bracket for the rear.
