Crank bearing?

I purchased a mostly NOS 320 and realized at the back of the engine where the torque converter mates to the engine is not the same as the original engine. It appears to just be a bearing on the new engine that was not on the old one. I have an ultramatic trans. Can I simply remove the bearing and everything will work fine? I don't want to assume and end up costing myself more money repairing it than having it addressed properly the first time. Pics of the old and new are attached. The old is considerably deeper to allow for the front of the torque converter.

Thank you in advance,
Shane
