Did any one else notice on the 2-14 post he said that he noticed a slight poping back through the carb? that would tell me that he has an intake valve not fully closing. which would leave clearance between the rocker and valve stem on the base circle. causing a "clack" when that rocker
slams back down on the valve. And i believe a lifter not pumping up would not cause the popping back as it would cause the valve to not fully open.
