Thanks. I think I’ll piece it together before buying a rebuild kit.

Speaking of which, where do people tend to get those? Looks like the choice is between Kanter and Fatsco, and Fatsco has two options.

Looks like the difference between them is just the steel high clutch plates. I’ve heard that those only need to be replaced if they’re burnt up / damaged, so I think I will inspect that first.

The Kanter kit appears much the same as the Fatsco bigger kit, but is 20% cheaper. Kanter doesn’t itemize particularly well so I’m not sure if there is stuff missing in comparison.https://www.kanter.com/p-35860-packard-ultramatic-rebuilding-kit-1955-1956.html
