Am reasonably sure based on all those with untouched cars that the side splasher would be body color. Interesting there are several with black though. Wonder if there was work done and a touch up in black was made since that was done prior to 55 or possibly early cars might have had black. Guess one would have to correlate those with black splashers with serial numbers to rule that out.
Here are a few picts of the vacuum lines. The front carb supplies the wipers/washer from the rear port on base and runs down side of head to engine rear and then hose to the balance valve. Rear carb supplies the dist from side port and brakes from rear. The dist tube is a loop around the carb and then comes in the vacuum advance with a 90 degree elbow from below.
EDIT: A picture from service counselor looks like the wiper tube off front carb rear port runs above the choke heat tubes over to head instead of under as my car does on first 2 picts
