Well, as said at the beginning, speed is not as issue with me, so lower power machts nichts. Just want a fun putt around at 30 mph town car, a real econo '55, as if Packard had made one. And it'd probably be more reliable dead stock than those finicky, cantankerous V8s

A diesel, while interesting (I had a Peugeot 504 diesel back in the day, proof positive that I'm odd) wouldn't be all Packard. Chrysler put Perkins diesels in some 50s Plymouths, but I don't believe Packard ever dieselized a car. I'd like to know if a 245 Six would fit lengthwise.
