The insertion of the paint code between the body type number and the sequential production number was typical Packard practice in many or most of their documents for decades, though it did not cary over everywhere, for example it wasn't on the patent plate, but was always or nearly always on the Vehicle Unit Record card, build slips, etc. from at least the middle 30s.
