I added the inline fuse when I rebuilt the PB unit, as I do with all of the units I service now. Howard is correct, it protects the whole logic side of the system. I equipped this unit with my replica finger and lead wiring harness, which I make as a automatic park bypass unless instructed otherwise, I talk it over with the client and see what their goals are, and proceed from there.
Disconnect the plug under the Instrument panel and take an ohmeter between a good ground and then the female connectors inside the plastic connector head coming thru the firewall. If there is a problem you will see a very low resistance reading to ground. Ideally, and when shipped there is no connection to ground. Do the smae for the connector with the male pins coming out of the steering column. If you do get a low reading to ground from the actuator side, pull the unit from the car, send it to me and I'll fix it free of charge as long as I'm still alive. Don't take it apart, don't have a buddy who is good at __________ see if he can fix it, that digs a deeper hole for me to fix.

Quiz: what sign hangs above the counter of every auto parts store in the land?
