My son keep telling me the opposite. I think he thinks the bird looks a little ostentatious, and I tend to agree. I had the "feather" (actually a modified form of the "bale") on it for a while, but when I finished painting the front, I put the bird back on. I do have a doughnut pusher for it as well, but I don't have a base for it (it's different than the bird base).

If you end up buying something used, be careful how much you pay. There are reproductions out there that are only "fair." if the bird's wings are solid with the back of the bird, that's a cheap imitation that I think was reproduced back in the 1970s for a whiskey decanter. The original wings are removable.

The American Arrow reproduction is an extremely high-quality piece, and it looks like the wings are removable. However, they are not (not easily, anyway). They are soldered into place. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just sayin'.
