Good luck. The 47 looks to be a challenge. I'm doing a 47 Custom and it isn't anywhere near that far gone. Even so it still needs at lot and is costing quite a bit. Can only imagine what that one would set you back. Even if not original, the windshield visor looks to be about the best part of that car and maybe worth getting if you can.

The red pad would indicate at one time the car had the Electromatic vacuum operated clutch option.

A nice unique Packard feature but if they acted up, frequently owners didn't want to fool with them when they needed adjustment. If they were not working and owners didn't want it fixed then mechanics didn't want to fight the mechanism for access to something else. In either case, many times it was disabled and all or just a component in the way of something else was removed.

If the car still has the option intact there will be a control mechanism mounted on the drivers side of the engine head. It will be connected to a cylindrical power cylinder down low. A wire rope connects the power unit to the clutch mechanism.
