Re: Bringing an old inline eight back to life

Well I put a Pertronix Ignitor and Flame thrower coil on, put a fuel tank together, wired a fuel pump and wheeled it outside.

After the carb filled up and a few cranks on the starter it came to life! I opened the throttle a bit and it started and emediatly settled to an idle. I shut it off after a few seconds in amazement.

After a few minutes I started it back up and let it idle for about a minute and it really ran pretty good. The oil pressure settled in around 30 psi and the idle smoothed out after about 15 seconds.

I put some water in it and ran it long enough to get fairly warm then called it a successful start.

I now know she is a runner and will look for waterpump and fuel pump repair kits. I will plumb it to a radiator and start it up again to tune it and do a couple of oil changes.

Thanks for all of the input everyone.
