Take a look at some of the cars from the late 20s and early 30s that still have original paint and can still score in the high 80s or low 90s points at CCCA Grand Classics. Given good quality paint and preparation it's mostly in the care they were given, protection from harsh elements, etc. and I suspect those factors are far more important than the paint itself.
