1949 Packard introduced the ultramatic to the public. In another thread I stated it cost $7 million dollars to develop the ultramatic.

I just got reading that it cost Packard another $11.5 million in start up costs for production of the ultramatic.
That comes to $18.5 million Packard spent on the ultramatic.

To me that is one heck of a lot of money spent or r&d for small company.
