Packard built (2) 1A-2775 24 cylinder "X" engines under contract to the Navy, for Schneider Cup racing aircraft. The aircraft never raced due to issues with the aircraft, unrelated to the engine. Various other X configuration engines were proposed or prototyped into the early 40s. Pic of the first 1A-2775 and patent drawing.
