Need advice on cleaning out my gas tank

Anyone have advice on what I can do to clean out my gas tank? While replacing the sending unit, I noticed a fair amount of what looked like surface rust. I emptied all the fuel out, shook the tank and all kinds of small loose rust came out. Now when blowing air into the tank, I just get a cloud of brown dust coming out, but no more chunks. I've flushed it with water once already. What more can I do to get the rest of the powder/dust out. Up till now, I've been driving the car with no problems, even with all that loose rust in the bottom of the tank. Do you think I'd be alright as is ... or? I've read on this and other forums, about all the tank cleaning, prepping and coating systems, and the vinegar or other acid methods of cleaning. I'm very leery about applying some sort of coating since there is really no way of being sure that the surfaces are perfectly clean. I don't want to have the coating come loose and plug things up. Kanter offers new tanks for my car, but they are on back order, and won't be available till maybe July. Any advice will be appreciated - Thanks

Tim
