1927 526 roaster, vacuum gasoline system

Is the cover plate pot metal or aluminum cast, I have a crack in it and I would like to fix it , This is for a friend of mine

PS The crack extends from the vacuum embossment on top through cover, but integrally is still together but needs to be sealed
