Any list of transportation pioneers would be incomplete without Tin Lizzy. Her acetylene eyes reveal that the below shown model was built before 1916. The lamp gas came into being in an acetylene generator, located on the left running board.

70 years later the welding torchs in my world's leading home country were still powered by the same functional principle, mixing carbide with water.
