Earliest documented use of designation 'cormorant'???????

I know that Packard called its optional radiator ornament a pelican in 1937 and 1938 accessory catalogs, and in the '50s it was called a cormorant.

I am curious to know the earliest date of documented usage, and was it in corporate issued item or an ad or what?
