Fires in Australia

Was just looking at an article on CNN saying there were numerous fires in Southeast Australia in the bush but also around Victoria and Melbourne & 25 so far had been killed. Then it went on to say that people around Sydney are being asked to stay indoors because of smoke. Are the fires close to any of the regulars on the forum? I thought the area of fires was a fair bit away from Sydney & population. Mal, you've mentioned several times a jaunt of 60-100 or so miles to pick up something. Everyone & their Packards safe?
