I am 64 years old and feel an arthritic-seventeen while working on my 41 Clipper. I got the car as an older restoration in Sept 2007. It had not been driven for 20 years. I developed 'Packard-elbow' after 4 months of physical straining doing repairs. (My doctor mistakenly called the condition 'tennis elbow').
I got 'Clipper Jack' back on the road in 2008 and have driven him over 5000 miles (with 2 tow-backs of 35 miles and 175 miles). I've been to Branson and Des Moines for PAC Nat'l Meets in 2008 and 2009. I am a member of MN Packard Club, (but most of their events are 250-300 miles one-way from Sioux Falls, South Dakota).
Drivers that I have kept rollin' include:
1941 Packard Clipper -'first of the Clippers'
1939 LaSalle Sedan, model 50, (5019) - Purchased June 2009 locally. Unrestored beautiful survivor with 120,000 miles.
College years- drove a 1951 Chevy for 3 years (and learned repairs and maintenance.) [It had a 1800 mile continuous-flow-oil-changing-system -- It leaked one qt every 300 miles, cycling 6 quarts in 1800 miles.)
