William Doud Packard son Warren purchased the inline 12 Packard. How Warren was able to purchase is interesting. It seem that Warren was in 1929 the sales manager of the Packard Detroit Branch, and also involved in custom body sales, and other activities associated with special Packard's.

He was also a close friend of Edward Macauley,in charge of Packard's styling department, and son of Alvan Macauley president of Packard.

Because of who Warren was and his connections with Packard, this is probably the reason he was able to buy the inline 12 Packard.
