Here is i hope some better photos.
The pieces are in a bad state and rusted. I found that the rubber traps moisture and dust then rusting underneath. This was the only place on my car with some rust through cause of this rubber. I understand your problem with rain. I will probably never use my car in the rain and it is under cover all the time. Also our hot weather will help to dry out the car quickly.
Your cars paint looks great! Great color.
