The Clipper Super would have had an Autolite MDD 6301 or MDF 6008 with straight Bendix drive. The Delco starter with plunger was used on the 55 Custom Clipper and all Packard models. A complete Delco unit with solenoid will fit on the smaller Clippers.

Most unusual for the nose to break unless starter was misaligned or loose or maybe the engine backfired when starting??? Usually we've been hearing more of that problem with 6v starters run on 12v conversions.
