JIMO - the braces under the fenders are a truncated triangle, with rolled depressions in them for bracing. I'll go shoot you some photos. I bet you are also trying to figure out the splash panels that come out perpendicular to the frame towards the engines. These often were tossed out by the mechanics, as they make it harder to work on the engine. If you can take photos of your mystery pieces, you can post them here. I bet there are some folks out there who can identify them.
