Some may wonder how they decided this stunt would work.
Sheet plastic was a new product in those days and much stronger than cellophane.
Anyway, I reckon the perimeter of the platform is around 624 inches and the car weighs around 4100 pounds. That means each inch of plastic must displace a little over 6 1/2 pounds. So cut a one inch strip of clear plastic tarp and see if it will lift a gallon of milk.
