Caught in the cusp between holidays, I've been looking back through the site's collection of Packard Service Letters and Counselors for 1941-47 in preparation for the next installment of the Service Index.
Yet, a question regarding Service Technical Bulletins lingers from my previous work on the 48-50 content. Though some past discussion - both public and private - pointed to
1948 as the first year for STBs, I had found specific references in the Service Counselor to other types of bulletins from 1946.
Looks like the real answer was under our noses for some time. The September, 1945 issue of the Service Counselor (
SC Vol 19, No. 9) announced a revision to the way service information would be distributed to dealers, including the launch of a new Service Technical Bulletin series. However, it's not (yet) clear whether any STBs were actually issued that year, and Packard didn't exaclty followed its planned format for issue numbering of STBs until 1949. Not sure if any annual index was published prior to 1951.
So, here's an updated list of MISSING STBs that are needed to help complete the site's collection and feed our online Service Index:

As you can see, many of these missing issues were sent to Zone offices only - NOT dealers. As such, the Zone issues may be hard to find, but they often contain good info. Meanwhile,
ALL Dealer issues are needed for
1945,
1946, and
1947.
If you have original issues of any of these missing documents and can provide them for scanning, plase contact BigKev.
Now, I'm wondering exactly where Technical Letters left off. We have only one example (
here), from 1915, and I've seen other examples published, elsewhere, as late as 1937. However, that would have left quite a gap until STBs came into being.
