Re: Ultramatic Kits

I was wondering what I would get in the '51 Ultramatic kit from MM before I ordered it. Seems that every seal, gasket and bushing I will need is there as well as the steel and friction plates for the high range clutch and several piston rings. Had to search a bit on their site but you will find a kit at MM Kit

The P/N is Group 3.5051 cost $395, which is a bit less than Kanter's kit but doesn't have the re-build "Instructions". I figured I didn't need the instructions so why pay for them? Everything is on packardinfo anyway.

Judging from the look (- old/ original) and construction of the bushings in the kit, they are NOS. Piston rings may be NOS also, everything else looks new. The clutch plates are new, not refurbished and use the new friction material (- which I assume is the GM material? Troy might know if that's the case, but it is a light colour, definitely not cork).

There are two or three copper washers and also three copper rings (compressible) which I would suppose are the sealing rings you are asking about. At first inspection two look like they go on the large plugs at each end of the bell housing which hold the converter pressure relief valve / spring in place. They're the right size for there. Then there is an ATF drain plug copper washer and one other washer. And two small rubber O-rings. Gasket set looks complete including one for the governor.

Can post a photo of the parts if you want, let me know.
