Cost was the primary consideration for municipalities and institutions when purchasing ambulances, the DeSoto Suburban was factory priced as follows: 1946: $2,175; 1947: $2,193; 1948: $2,631. Although not as well equipped as the Packard-Henney offerings, for the first aid/transport function they served, they were good enough for most smaller operations to use with the minimal equipment they could add for the purpose.
